  • Piano/Music History/Music Theory:

I hold a Bachelor of Music degree from The Juilliard School and a Master of Music degree from Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University. I have been teaching for 8 years and have experience teaching students of all ages - from age 2 to 80 - and all levels - from those who have never touched a piano, to those acquiring music degrees from top conservatories. I teach both in person in NYC and students all over the world via Zoom.

I also teach music history and theory, starting from the year 600AD to today, and cover all eras in depth - speaking on the shifting compositional styles, the various composers in each era, and the influence that world history had on the music that was produced in certain times.

    Writing

During my time at Juilliard I was part of the exchange program with Columbia University, where I studied Creative Writing. I have self published a collection of poems entitled “I Quiet the World” in August of 2020, and am currently working on two more collections (to be published in 2024 and 2026, respectively). I have taught/ edited poetry, novel writing, and have worked with students editing college/ general school essays.

  • My goal is not only to instill an intrinsic and natural technique into the hands of my students, but to teach them that technique is simply a means to an end, and that end is coloring, shaping, and story telling through music and writing. I firmly believe that the hallmarks of a good teacher are to instill skills that can eventually allow the student to teach themselves, and foster in the student a deep love for the music they play/study and the words they write, regardless of whether they wish to pursue it seriously or not.

Some students have come to me as adults who have played when they were younger, wishing to rekindle their abilities or learn more about a particular composer/writer/style. Some have come as babies, just learning the meaning of a scale or the composition of a sentence. Others have come to me as advanced pianists or writers in preparation for their conservatory auditions or working on a significant piece of writing. And - every one in between!

Each student is different. Perhaps one student wishes to drive themselves and work toward a concrete goal - like an exam, a fully finished manuscript, or a competition, for instance. Perhaps another student is simply interested in learning for fun. I have experience and thoroughly enjoy teaching with either aim in mind! Regardless of the motivation, together we will learn how to grow as musicians and/or writers in efficient and creative ways, we will strengthen our expressivity and confidence, and we will sharpen our ears.

  • - You may receive a full refund if you cancel the lesson 24 hours before or earlier. Any cancellation done less than 24 hours before the lesson will not be eligible for a refund (with the exception of extreme circumstances).

-If I cancel the lesson, you will always receive a full refund plus rescheduling.

-The price includes full duration of the lesson plus ability to text/ call me on my personal line with any questions pertaining to our work throughout the week (for writing lessons - editing throughout the week).

-For package deals, it is about the number of lessons you have, not the amount of time spanned. Meaning - if you have 13 lessons (which is the 3 month package deal) over the course of 4-5 months because you skipped a week for whatever reason, that is ok (not more than 6 months, though).

IMPORTANT NOTES:

• I only accept students who purchase package deals (13, 26, 52 lessons, or a full course).

• For prospective in-person students: for safety precautions, our first two lessons (trial and real lesson) will be on zoom. Thank you!
